Where the Story Begins
Long before modern travel apps and crowded destinations, there was a simpler idea of vacation.
You packed the car, rolled down the windows, and headed toward the lake.

In the late 1960s and early 1970s, as Lake Texoma became one of the Southwest’s favorite recreation destinations, a vision began to take shape on its shores: a resort where people could gather, unwind, and enjoy the natural beauty of North Texas. That vision became Tanglewood Resort.

From the beginning, Tanglewood was designed as more than a place to stay. It was a place to escape the everyday – to spend long weekends by the water, play a round of golf under big Texas skies, share meals with friends, and watch the sun set over the lake.

Generations of guests have made the drive north from Dallas, Oklahoma City, and beyond, creating traditions that have lasted for decades. Anniversaries were celebrated here. Family reunions returned year after year. Summer vacations turned into lifelong memories.
